Welcome to Sunday Sketch Club!

The perfect way to build a creative practice and make some new friends! Sunday Sketch Club is all about scrolling less and sketching more.

It’s so easy for us all to become lost in our own worlds and fill our time scrolling. The idea behind SSC is to bring people together who want to get a little bit more creative and meet likeminded people!

What is Sunday Sketch Club? Every third Sunday of each month, we meet at the Studio, learn about a new sketching style, technique or art supply and then head out and sketch the streets of Melbourne!

Why sketching? Sketching is a wonderful way to build a regular creative practice – it’s all about letting loose, having fun and finding wonder in the world around us. There is absolutely no right and wrong about sketching and that’s why no artistic experience is required!

What is urban sketching?

Urban sketching is a way of using art to document the world around us. It's the act of drawing in the cities or neighbourhoods we live in or travel to. By sketching we are capturing a moment in time in a unique, artistic way.

What's included?

• New art supply to keep
• Instructional session about the featured art supply or a new sketching technique
• Your choice of materials to use for the class (watercolours, pens, pencils - a whole lot!)
• Chats, laughs and a good time

How will the day run?

Introductions

• Meet and greet
• Discuss our plans for the day

Fuel up on inspiration

• Discuss and learn about the beauty of urban sketching in the Studio
• Practice mark making in our sketchbooks
• Instructional class regarding a new art supply or technique

Exploring the neighbourhood and sketching

• Explore the Camberwell neighbourhood 
• Spending about 15 - 20 minutes in each sketching location
• Finish the day at the Studio with tea, coffee and snacks

If the weather is not on our side, we will have a studio based workshop so fear not! 🥰

FAQs

How far are we walking?

We will be walking within a 1km radius from the Studio. Don't worry if you're not a quick walker, there's no rush!

What should I bring?

Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and a bottle of water.

Do I need any drawing experience?

Absolutely not!

What if I can't attend on the day?

We understand that things happen and life can get in the way! If you are unable to attend the workshop please let us know as soon as possible as we purchase materials based on the number of attendees we have. If you let us know more than 7 days before the event we can refund your ticket.
